Description

Amorphophallus hewittii (Bukit Serumbu) while in Borneo we were able to get some seeds of this unique and rare plant. Some questions of if it is true hewitti have been asked it has very similar size and look to other hewitti in the area but in Borneo each mountain is like an island and the isolated plants on each moutain can be completely unique. Mature plants grow over 10 feet tall and produce large tubers. Petiole markings are very unique many had light colored petioles with dark browns and gray coloring some maroon markings on some. Flowers are very large usually held high on a large petiole dark red Spath and Spadix up to 6 to 8 feet tall flower and stalk. I have seen photos of some very large inflorescence from this same area that equal that of titanum. Seedlings will be in limited supply and once gone they are gone.
