Scadoxus multiflorus also known as the blood lily is a native to Africa. the foliage is dark green wide leaves grown from a large bulb held up with spotted stems. The main reason people always want the plant are for the large glob like structure of the red flowers which are held up on a large petiole. Flowers are around 1 to 2 inches tall and wide and form a glob that can be 5 to 8 inches across. This plant is seasonal and will go dormant in winter months. Which makes it great for digging and storing. I have also found that if well protected and mulched plants have stayed out all winter here in zone 6. I would not recommend this unless they are heavily protected or if you have extra plants to test.
