Saccharum officinarum ‘Pele’s Smoke’ is an ornamental sugar cane named after the Hawaiian volcano god Pele. The foliage is dark purple to black if grown in full sun. The trunks or canes are also dark purple to black and have light colored rings around each nod.

The plant looks very ornamental if the bottom sections are cleaned off to make it look more like a palm tree a strange bamboo or cordyline.
