Sarracenia x catesbaei is a hybrid pitcher plant between Sarracenia purpurea X Sarracenia flava. This hybrid is found naturally where these two species are found in coastal plain areas from Virginia to Florida. This odd hybrid takes the red wide pitchers of Sarracenia purpurea and combines them with the tall yellow colored traps of Sarracenia flava. This combination of two very distinct species produced one of the most striking and beautiful hybrids around. One of the easier to grow pitcher plants Sarracenia X catesbaei is hardy from zone 5-9 and should be grown in peat or sandy peat bogs in full to part sun. Like with most pitcher plants never allow them to dry out and use good clean pure water normally rain water is best.
Plants sold in 4 inch pots.
