Xanthosoma violaceum a large growing aroid, commonly considered and elephant ear. This plant is found native in parts of South America and is commonly used as a food source. The leaves are dark green and large with dark purple petioles. Mature plants can reach over 8 to 10 feet tall. Northeren gardeners can expect 4 to 6 feet height from violaceum.
